Do soil enzyme activity assays need buffers? No. Building on previous work, we find buffers (i) *suppress* activity of phosphatase and (ii) alter apparent kinetic properties relative to water. doi.org/10.1016/j.soil… With Skye & soils & JordonWade.bsky.social Natural Resources Conservation Service Soil Health Institute

We're looking for someone to join us on the 3M project at CSU! This is a non-student hourly position, ideal for recent graduates. We need someone to help maintain workflow on a variety of lab activities for 1000s of soil samples. Share widely! jobs.colostate.edu/postings/155991

How do methods for estimating soil P mineralization with radioisotopes stack up? How can they be improved? Newly published "In pursuit of soil P mineralization: A review and synthesis of radioisotopic labeling techniques" (SBB) provides a quant synthesis: doi.org/10.1016/j.soil…

Finally got around to this past year's phantom yield loss data. Here are the last two years of results, same 9 hybrids tested in both years. Yield loss is real, but it is not kernel respiration on the plant. It is either harvest loss or yield monitor calibration variation.

One of my favorite things about working at Syngenta Group is knowing that the CEO understands just how important soil health is to farmers because he is a farmer too. The firsthand knowledge of just how challenging it is to balance conservation and profitability is *so* key here

Farmers: I cannot overstate how tight UAN supplies in N.A. are. I realize that in years past, even when supplies are tight, retailers have made product appear. This year, do not be mad if your retailer says you will have to wait for supply if you haven't purchased already.

Only thing that makes me happier than being in a šŸ˜ soil pit with Dr. Abbey Wick is getting to talk about the impactful work we’re doing together Syngenta soil health team. This Thursday (6/26) I’m talking about how we’re translating research into real world impact (1/2)

Side-by-side photos of crops dug from field, untreated check vs. product X. Farmers, this marketing is aimed at you. What do you think of these photos?

Here’s a reminder that agronomy is done in the field not from a satellite imagery. Or driving at 55mph past it. One pic it’s obvious it’s dry. The other 2 pics you’d look at satellites and corn is green and looks good. Your algorithms and formulas don’t predict reality
