Very happy that our latest research is out today nature.com/articles/s4146…. A massive effort by @DNikarus and the rest of the team @IMSR_UoB getting this over the line after almost 6 years of work. Also very thankful for the contributions of all our amazing collaborators!

We have a vacancy for a permanent Imaging Specialist within our microscopy core facility @unibirm_MDS. Great microscopes, great users and a great academic imaging lead (might be a bit biased on this one 😄). To boot, Birmingham is a great place to live. bham.taleo.net/careersection/…

More cool fluorescent dyes coming your way, this time SNAP- and Halo-labels for clean, targeted visualization of cell surface proteins (inc. GPCRs) using light and STED microscopy @IMSR_UoB Centre Of Membrane Proteins and REceptors

A pleasure to be involved with these studies! By using SNAP_GPR56 and different labels, Ed Olaniru, PhD showed that GPR56 has unusually high levels of constitutive activity, and this is important for beta cell survival @IMSR_UoB @BroichhagenJ Julia Ast

Our GLP1R Crispr-Cas9 knockout mice are now freely available through MMRRC mmrrc.org/catalog/sds.ph… GLP1R protein is undetectable, so these mice are useful for validating reagents, or more broadly, the phenotypic effects of total GLP1R deletion Julia Ast @BroichhagenJ

Congrats to Hannah Smith, our Arthur Thomson Charitable Trust summer student, on all her hard work helping with NMR tracing of islet nutrient use. Big shout out to the lab for their support and Federica Cuozzo for taking the reigns!

LUXendins, our fluorescent GLP1R probes, are now available from Celtarys Research, including red, far red and near infrared versions. LUXendins work in live & fixed tissue and, most importantly, are highly specific! @BroichhagenJ Julia Ast @IMSR_UoB celtarys.com/categoria-prod…

Our latest work on visualizing and interrogating endogenous GLP1R is now out! A massive team effort, particularly grateful to Julia Ast and @BroichhagenJ who perserved getting this over the line. In sum, GPCR signalling in complex tissues is complex, reflecting cell states.
