How can it be right that a low-paid social care worker pays a bigger proportion of her income to fund social care than the private equity magnate who profits from asset-stripping care homes? It's time for a tax on wealth to fund social care.

Care workers, on an average of £8.82 phr, are about to be taxed more in order to contribute towards the cost of the care they provide. That the reality of choosing a national insurance rise over wealth taxes.

If we put a 10% tax on the wealth of those with over £100m, we would raise £69 billion. A Wealth Tax is how we should fund much-needed investment in social care - not a hike in National Insurance contributions that will hit the lowest paid.

Today the most vulnerable pensioners have lost their state pension protection; the lowest paid have been made to pay for the care of the elderly & most vulnerable; and the wealthiest have got off scot free. Austerity.

My little boy broke his ankle yday, and we experienced our own ambulance horror story as he didn’t qualify for one. The poor kid was in pain and shock, sobbing, teeth chattering, complaining of being cold. So I had to take a 5 year old with a broken ankle in the back of a taxi.

Women born in the 1950s were robbed of their pensions. They’re owed fair compensation. I was proud to stand with women campaigning to correct this injustice earlier this week in Brighton.

ā€œI've given you the most important metric which is, never mind life expectancy, never mind cancer outcomes, look at wage growth." I work in a hospice. And I’m reeling that a remark so callous, so cruel, could have been uttered by the prime minister.

Today marks the 85th anniversary of #CableStreet which saw Jewish and Irish workers, and many trade unionists, together defend the East End of London from the very real threat of fascism. They did not pass. #NoPasaran

Striking how few are pointing out that a government boasting of its commitment to higher wages has frozen public-sector pay for 2.6 million workers.

Last week I cried, hearing the desperation of families facing Universal Credit cut & of a Mum feeding 3 kids with 4 chicken nuggets & a portion of beans. Meanwhile DWP chief belts out 'Time of My Life' hrs before taking away a further £80 from that Mum.

I’ve listened to 3 weeks worth of party conferences. Do you know what was missing? • Wealth Taxes Now. The rich made Ā£107 billion during this pandemic. • I refuse to accept a welfare cut for my constituents.

I’ve listened to media commentators saying how full of jokes & how funny Johnson’s speech was. We all like a joke, don’t we. I bet people will be laughing all the way to the food bank & roaring with laughter when they can’t afford to turn the heating on now UC has been cut.
