Application is closing on March 24th! Join us as postdoc at TU Dresden to work on global biodiversity patterns of insects and fungi and their role in the process of wood decomposition. European Research Council (ERC) project BIOCOMP tu-dresden.de/stellenausschr…

Interested in the dynamics of subalpine forests? Want to study novel disturbance regimes with particular focus on invasive alien pathogens? Come join us for a PhD Ecosystem Dynamics and Forest Management TU Munich & #BerchtesgadenNP, studying mountain pine dynamics. Full job ad (DE/EN) here: nationalpark-berchtesgaden.bayern.de/service/karrie…

Out now in Annual Reviews: @MonicaGTurner and my review on novel disturbance regimes and ecological responses. One-sentence summary: Shift happens, and novel outcomes will be determined by the interlinked nature of disturbance and response. annualreviews.org/doi/abs/10.114…

Out now in Global Change Biology: Projected climate and canopy change lead to thermophilization and homogenization of forest floor vegetation. Great work led by Kristin Braziunas, combining vegetation surveys with landscape simulation modeling onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.11…

#Ecosystemservices are at risk from forest disturbances in Europe 💨🪳🔥Which ecosystem services are most at risk, where, and from which disturbances? Check it out👉onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.111… Extremely happy to see this one out😁Ecosystem Dynamics and Forest Management TU Munich Rupert Seidl

So excited to see our first joint paper on biodiversity-productivity relationships across elevations and landscapes out Forest Ecosystems. Great collaboration and very appreciate all the support from two fantastic teams, looking forward to more interesting results to come.

We set up the first plot pair of the European Research Council (ERC) project BIOCOMP studying biodiversity of decomposers and wood decomposition rates in managed and natural forests along global climate gradients. Can't wait to see the results!

Forest recovery success or failure? Remote sensing can help answer this question. Take a look at our new RSE paper: doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.… Big thanks to my amazing co-authors Alba Viana Soto , Ana Stritih , Rupert Seidl and especially @corneliussenf for the great support!

Concluding two weeks of field work in wonderful #ShiretokoNP today. We had partly challenging conditions but sampled beautiful forests, and I'm excited about the second leg of this effort in summer. Thanks AkiraSMori for having us, and European Research Council (ERC) for making this possible!

Are natural disturbances or forest management responsible for the observed increase in canopy openings in Europe's forests? The answer is both, and their changes are linked, as we show in a new paper out in Nature Communications, w/ the great @corneliussenf doi.org/10.1038/s41467…

Different social-ecological disturbance regimes, yet converging forest structure across the Alps, Carpathians and Caucasus mountains = strong attractors! Led by Ana Stritih w/ @corneliussenf Tobias Kuemmerle Catalina Munteanu et al., powered by GEDI! doi.org/10.1007/s10980…
