I'm really excited to join the OCCT research centre to discuss some of the work we've been up to in the Subset of Theoretical Practice. 1st of May, 5pm, at St. Anne's College. Thanks Georgia Nasseh and Joseph Hankinson for the invitation! occt.web.ox.ac.uk/event/translat…

Today’s roundtable was the first of two online events we host this term! On 31/05, we bring together leading experts in African, Victorian and Comparative Literatures for a panel discussion celebrating Joseph Hankinson’s book, KOJO LAING, ROBERT BROWNING AND AFFILIATIVE LITERATURE.

We are proud to host, in collaboration with the British Comparative Literature Association, a workshop on ‘Comparative Literature and Decoloniality’. The workshop will take place on 7 June, from 3–6pm, at St Anne's College. For more information, visit shorturl.at/flxBX.

We will be joined by six speakers delivering position papers on six themes: Tinashe Mushakavanhu on ‘People’, Joseph Hankinson on ‘Spaces’, Paul Melo e Castro on ‘Languages’, Dr Marchella Ward (always 'Chella') on ‘Knowledges’, Ruth Bush on ‘Pedagogies’, and Anna Bernard on ‘Disciplines’.

The Oxford Translation Day 2023 programme is now live! Every June, St Anne's College runs Oxford Translation Day—a celebration of literary translation, featuring workshops and talks and culminating in the award of the Oxford-Weidenfeld Prize. Read more at shorturl.at/enDI0

There’s still time to register for today’s talk with Chilean writer Alejandro Zambra and award-winning translator megan mcdowell—whose translation of Zambra’s novel CHILEAN POET (Granta Books) has been shortlisted for the 2023 Oxford-Weidenfeld Prize.

This week we host Collage Comparison—a two-day symposium in collaboration with Bodleian Libraries. We are joined by a group of practitioners and scholars to explore the ways collage—conceptually and practically—can provide a new vocabulary for archival work and comparative criticism.

For the last two days, we have had the pleasure of hosting Collage Comparison—a practice-based symposium in collaboration with Bodleian Libraries where we explored the ways collage—conceptually and practically—can provide a new vocabulary for comparative and archival work.

The (many!) collages created by participants in the workshop served as the basis for a chapbook, produced and printed in a live performance-workshop led by Julia at Common Books in the Weston Library’s Blackwell Hall Bodleian Libraries, which was open to the public.

It’s been such an honour working with Tinashe Mushakavanhu and Joseph Hankinson on the conceptualisation and organisation of Collage Comparison—a coming-together prefigurative of what collaborative, practice-based thinking can be. ✨ A big thank you to Bodleian Libraries for the trust and support.

Ahead of the Oxford Comparative Criticism and Translation (OCCT) Research Centre's 10th Anniversary Workshop this Friday, we have the pleasure of releasing a video of this year's Oxford Translation Day—our flagship event held annually St Anne's College! ✨

The 2024 #WeidenfeldLectures with Véronique Tadjo, Weidenfeld Visiting Professor in Comparative European Literature, will take place over the next four weeks! The inaugural lecture is on Wednesday (24/01) 5.30 at St Anne's College, Oxford.
