Really enjoyed putting this together for BirdGuides. What a week to summarise!

There won't be many occasions when finding two Red-eyed Vireos feels like a relative failure for a weekend's birding efforts on the Irish west coast, but this was one of them 😂 superb birds, though, and good to be back out in Mayo with Oliver Metcalf!

It's a real pleasure to be sharing Achill Island with a Cape May Warbler this October. A thoroughly deserved find for Micheal O'Briain – receiving his message and photos last Friday morning was one of those jaw-dropping moments that only American landbirds are capable of causing!

Code Yikes! Today the planet is 1.96°C above the 1850-1900 baseline. Copernicus ECMWF runs about 0.06°C hotter than my graphic, and I am wondering if they are once again showing the planet breaking the 2.0°C barrier.

“This bird is singing its life story, where it’s been, stamps on a passport” Sean Roynane share his passion for birdsong with Tommy Tiernan 😍😍 #TommyTiernanShow

Where have all the Tree Sparrows gone? Not a single record in Cambridgeshire so far this month Cambs Bird Club - hopefully someone has seen one. Are they faring better elsewhere in the country?

Happy to see one of my Pin-tailed Sandgrouses on the cover of the latest Birdwatch 🙏 One of Europe’s most stunning looking birds. This is a female photographed in Belchite with help of Photo Logistics More sandgrouse images here agami.nl/search.pp?mult… Agami Photo Agency

An open letter to Milton Country Park in response to the recent habitat clearance in peak bird nesting season. If you'd like to show support please add your name in the comments below.

A pair of #Dunlin have raised 2 young this summer at the Valley/Sandybanks #AchillIsland - this seriously threatened Irish nesting bird had not been recorded breeding locally since 1995 - success has been achieved thanks to the LIFE on Machair / SAOL ar an Mhachaire project & support of local community
