Thank YOU very much for taking the time to not only give a lecture & conversation but also discuss research and policy relevance with a number of faculty.

In 2022, the ocean gained 10 ZJ more than it gained the year before – “enough heat to boil 700m kettles every second” THAT IS JUST THE EXTRA ABOVE LAST YEAR’s GAIN. Not even how much in gained in total. theguardian.com/environment/20…

It is a wonderful space! Thanks for letting my Yale sustainability transitions class use it to host meetings - perfect for great conversations with interest people.

It was an honor to moderate this panel and learn from Mayor-Elect Aki-Sawyerr among other Mayors from Heraklion, Bratislava, and New Haven. Thanks to the Hixon Center, Yale School of the Environment for convening such a wonderful group.

Just reading (and laughing aloud) at Lorna Finlayson’s excellent “Let them eat oysters” on ethic/philosophy vs political thinking as a way to address whar the pope calls our companions. Yes, “It ought to be - it is- possible to arrange society differently.” lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v45/…

Looking forward to this! Main focus: priorities and hopefully some next steps on better representing human behaviors in climate models and climate dynamics in human (and economics) models? (Knowing that models will always have their limits)

Nice to see this. 2 thoughts: 1. In 2023 I had a group of eminent types I was presenting to ask me what it meant. 2. Is it worse if we mean it than if it’s a side effect of something else? Question to watch. on.ft.com/41CpE2a

We are organizing a meeting on what could go wrong, from a physical science perspective, if stratospheric aerosol geoengineering were ever deployed. If you have suggestions for who to invite to such a meeting, please email or DM me (or mention in a reply).
