Academics take pride in their intelligence and independence. "The problem is that most working academics have no idea they’re being packaged and sold in the first place." More like cattle really? At least as far as publishers are concerned...

😿 to see yet more institutions' "Read & Publish" listing failing to mention #DiamondOA publishers while purporting to list "Open Access options" for their academics. Paying 2500 for #OpenAccess isn't a feature. It's a bug.

Thank you @viroviacum for hitting the nail on the head. For the sake of Diamond OA, may your voice be heard! Because to be honest, the current situation is not encouraging for scholar-led, not-for-profit initiatives (for-profit publishers, it's never been better!).

I wish that piece had been entitled "APCs, TAs and RRS betray the hope of Open Access", which is really what the piece is (justly!) saying. Just waiting for all the misinterpreting retweets🍿

Free speech absolutism and all that #jazz: 👍Yes, I want to see the source code of @Twitter: I don't trust it and want to see its evil with my own eyes. 👎No, Elon Musk does not understand the consequences of what he's doing today. See y'all on Mastodon (@[email protected]) and WT.Social ?

Absolute privilege to see the breathtaking, electrifying Malin Byström in Tosca at the De Nationale Opera today. I've heard plenty of great singers over the years, but my geez, this was something else entirely. operaballet.nl/en/dutch-natio…

Spending time with artists should be compulsory for all scientists. Just came back from a weekend workshop with Kees Brandenburg @keesbran. All fired up by this first hands-on carbon printing experience. #blackandwhitephotography

I've long been a great admirer of Mudge and if you don't know him, look him up. My confidence in Twitter's inner workings has always been pretty low at best. I'm not sure what's left of it now.

To all people I follow, since I'm 🐦🔫 please don't be offended if I unfollow you here (which I will do as soon as I've found you in the #Fediverse, which you *definitely* want to join).
