The Police Ombudsman has said that in the weeks prior to her murder, Mary Ward had reported to PSNI that she’d been “the victim of a violent crime” and that its investigation will focus on the PSNI’s response to this.

Police had multiple dealings with Mary Ward between Sept 4, when she reported being a victim of violence, and Sept 25, the date they now believe she was murdered.
