Our Black History Month Program this evening paid homage to the family for which our school has been named. We are going to D.C. this May to campaign for this family’s history to be displayed on the floor of the National Museum of African American History and Culture. #Legacy

Sandy Ridge Elementary students performed a play that centered a road trip to 5 NC HBCUs: Fayetteville State University, NC A&T, NCCU, Shaw University, and WSSU, where they glimpsed life at each school. Scenery, performances, and a wax museum were student-produced.

Ms. Herrera's 1st graders and their families celebrated their second publishing party by reading their "All About" books to the class. We learned about tigers, chickens, pandas, jellyfish & more! Kudos to these awesome writers for their detailed research and informative writing!

Glenn goes to Eno River State Park! Our 2nd grade scientists have been studying life cycles (look for our butterflies coming soon!). They put their knowledge to the test by studying wildlife, learning from rangers, wading in the river, and venturing across the swinging bridge!

Glenn was delighted to welcome Senator Woodard as part of NC's Inaugural "Bring Your Legislator to School Day." As part of his visit, Senator Woodard had the opportunity to hear from students about their study of the Constitution, the amendments & how those apply to our school.
