To all the students dealing with disappointment this application cycle, I share the advice a committee member gave me when I left my PhD for a leave of absence not knowing if or when I would return: “Life is long and many roads lead to happiness. You’ll find your way.”

As hard as grad school is, living life on > 35k/year has been the hardest part. Housing insecurity is REAL for me. The thing I’m looking forward to the most after graduation is renting an a place that I don’t have to depend on a roommate’s income to afford insidehighered.com/news/2023/02/2…

Ok time to ask the hive mind- what’s the best course of action if you think a prescription isn’t working? As in you refilled it a week ago and it’s a different pill size/color and since you’ve been taking that one you’ve had symptoms. Before, this drug was making me symptom free.

My favorite part of the #VI4Symposium is the reminder that I’m not alone with my research endeavors. Community is so important and inspiring for my science and I love the opportunity to learn what friends and colleagues are up to!

Hi, it’s me. I’m sitting here with a new glasses prescription and two cavities debating whether I go ahead and pay the $750 out of pocket or wait 4 months to see if we get insurance.

So many emotions while watching my friends Jacky Lu, PhD, twitterless Jonah Zarrow, Dr. Helen Parrington 🇨🇦 and Yvonne Latour graduate today. Immeasurably proud knowing just how hard they’ve worked and what they’ve overcome, but heartbroken Im not with them. One day… one day…

Summer is almost here so thus begins the yearly housing shuffle. If anyone knows of a good roommate and/or apartment, let me know!

Submitted an application to my dream fellowships today and I can’t stop cycling between anxiety and excitement. ITS ACTUALLY HAPPENING! Time is real and has progressed forward!

Its amazing what an honest conversation with a supportive mentor can do for a person’s anxiety levels. Very very thankful for the mentors I’ve got!

RIP to the best little buddy around. Thank you for making me laugh, endless cuddles, and the nightly reminders to go to sleep. Life will be harder without you.

There were so many days when I thought this would never happen, but with a ton of work and great guidance from some awesome mentors, it finally has. #PhD
