Congrats to this all-star team of University of British Columbia grad students Kaleigh Davis Fiona Beaty and Carolina Sánchez on their analysis of plastic use University of British Columbia, waste management + ecological impacts in oceans 🌊 A super useful framework to support local transitions toward a reduced marine footprint.

“We used to say 1.5C to stay alive. Now we know 1.5C we might survive. We are at 1.1C and lives have been lost. Just happens most of those are lives of people of colour. Is that why world powers are ignoring it?” Kumi Naidoo #cop26

So you're going to do a PhD! Yay! Here's my best advice: 1) Don't work nights/weekends unless you have a hard deadline. Work 40hrs, no more. My most cherished grad school experiences were hanging out with my friends. Do not waste your youth providing unpaid labor. Don't do it!!

Hey @MendeleySupport Elsevier | Mendeley could you please implement the watch folder function ASAP on the reference manager? And recognizing doubles? I’m really missing it! Adding everything in the whole folder is just creating doubles and thus more work #AcademicTwitter

“Why do people leave #academia? Aren’t you all having fun? And besides, we are *paying* you, aren’t we?” “Oh, and you can’t have any other job(s). But also when it’s convenient for us we will decide the job you have is not a real job. Sign here, initial here, your soul is mine.”
