The Oval Office used to be a beautiful room. Now parts of it look like a 19th Century bordello. Countess Luann de Lesseps was right: “money can’t buy you class.”

Very good conversation with leehawkins and Martha S. Jones at the LA Times Festival of Books on Saturday. Each had done a deep dive into their families’ histories and convincingly drawn connections between the painful parts of our Black past and the pride to overcome it.

#RIP Joe Don Baker. Was great in ‘Charley Varrick’ and 3 Bond pics but especially so as Sheriff Buford Pusser in the smash hit ‘Walking Tall.’ “In those days, I think a lot of people wanted to take a stick to Nixon and all those Watergate guys,” he said. bit.ly/3GY0xRb

CBS used to be called “The Tiffany Network.” Shari Redstone’s interference is turning it into Claire’s. It’s a betrayal of all the excellent work the network’s staff has done over the years. Redstone should be ashamed of herself. Instead, she wants more $$$. smh.

interesting how much resentment this photo created from white conservatives who assumed that the dismantling of DEI meant elite schools would return to the 1940s
