Both the Kingfisher and Great Spotted Woodpecker have been filmed on the Thurso Riverside over the last few days. An adult Iceland Gull is passing the house at Scrabster daily, but sadly my visiting Waxwings left a week ago.

I’m planning to drive round Iceland 🇮🇸 at the end of May, so am looking for recommendations on where to watch birds/wildlife. So far I’ve 3 nights at Myvatn, boat trips at Husavik & Olafsvik 🐋 but sadly won’t have time for the West Fjords. Any recs would be much appreciated ☺️

Two Tree Sparrows in our Scrabster Garden this afternoon, the first I’ve seen since last September. Does anyone know if they move far between seasons? Caithness Birds

Spotted WTE G542 from the house here on the north coast of Scotland last week, one of 12 birds released/fledged from the Isle of Wight in 2021. 41 days before my sighting she had been recorded on the outskirts of Reading. Had also been in Caithness during the summer of 2022

A wonderful day yesterday following 3 orca around the Caithness Coast. This encounter with Bull 72 at Ackergill was just one of the many fabulous moments we had with them 🖤

Yesterday we were treated to some fabulous views of 30+ Bottlenose Dolphins in Thurso Bay 🐬 They stayed around for most of the day, often close to shore allowing hundreds of people to get out and see them.

Brunnich’s Guillemot showing well in Scrabster Harbour this morning, but sadly appears to be poorly. Found yesterday by a lady up on holiday.

An incredible day out in The Minch yesterday where we saw 7 individual Humpback Whales, some of which were lunge feeding on krill. What a spectacle 🐋🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A Mother and calf Harbour Porpoise who approached our stationary boat in The Minch. The mother then began logging not too far from us on a number of occasions and the thought is that she was nursing the calf, who still has its fatal folds.

The Otters have been putting on quite a show in Thurso this week and it’s been wonderful to see so many people captivated by them 🤎 Hopefully they hang around for a while!
