Mick has done a brilliant job leading the RMT through some massive industrial struggles. And he’s been an incredibly effective, recognisable and articulate champion of working people more broadly. A big miss, but he well deserves a very long & happy retirement! 👏🏼👏🏼✊✊

The extreme hoarding of wealth is sociopathic. Example below. It amazes me that people can argue the toss that hospital cleaners shouldn’t get sick pay from day one, and argue just as vehemently that the super rich shouldn’t be asked to pay their fair share of tax.

Nuclear power supports thousands of quality jobs, can help deliver net zero & builds energy independence and security. It's essential that the government gets Sizewell C over the line and makes a final, positive, investment decision.

You wouldn't know it from the front pages... but Labour's workers' rights reforms are probably the most popular thing the government is doing. Huge support including 65% of Reform voters - in Clacton, 70% support banning zero hours contracts. theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/f…

The Trades Union Congress is horrified to see the violent attack which occurred during a demonstration by Ver.di union in Munich – we send solidarity and our thoughts to those affected. We echo ver.di’s call for solidarity and unity in the face of this appalling event. DGB - Deutscher Gewerkschaftsbund ver.di

You probably read this weekend the government was watering down the workers rights bill. Our Jessica Elgot has looked at the amendments and concludes there’s no weakening of anything, in most cases it’s been toughened up. theguardian.com/politics/2025/…

On #InternationalWomensDay2025, we recognise the female-led, historic union campaigns that paved the way for the rights we enjoy today. And we redouble our efforts going forward in the fight for recognition and equal pay. #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction

If you are working in the civil service, a hospital or a school, you know how best services can be delivered more effectively. Public sector reform needs the active engagement of the staff delivering services

1 in 6 workers are skipping a meal on a daily basis. They are still having to make a decision between heating and eating. That's why the make work pay agenda is going to be CRITICAL. - @ShavTaj on #BBCQT

The Tories left behind a toxic economic & social legacy. Everyone agrees our welfare system needs to work better, partic when it comes to support to get people into decent jobs. But changes that could push disabled people & their families into poverty are not the answer. 1/2..

Paul Nowak (@nowak_paul) 's Twitter Profile Photo

In light of the the broad-based support for the reasoned amendment, the govt should pause and rethink their welfare reforms. Let’s get this right - rather than rush through reform - & build a welfare system that’s fit for purpose.
