Started teaching a survey Women and War in US/Global history the semester after Russia invaded Ukraine. Today was my last day teaching it as war continues in Gaza and college protests spread across the US/globe. If the students left with anything, it’s that history is now.

My dissertation and I just got back together after a 6 month break. We are taking it slow, and we both need a lot of work, but I’m cautiously optimistic about our future. (Translation: 6 months since defense but now I think my diss isn’t complete trash 😎)

Prepping for new courses today and dredging up all the activities and assignments that I remember from undergrad (and high school??). Blessed are our past instructors who cared about student learning, for they are the true teachers of the next generation.

Seeing lots of folks trying out TEC churches today after hearing Bishop Budde’s sermon. Can’t wait for the reports showing how a woman who preached the gospel, frustrated the proud, and encouraged the downtrodden sparked a religious movement…
