A wonderful visit to ChartwellNT yesterday. Itโs always clear to see why Winston Churchill loved this place. The house always feels homely and welcoming, and the gardens and grounds so beautiful. Katherine Carter #veday80thanniversary

I get asked sometimes how Jock VI (former cat of ChartwellNT, who took early retirement as he lost his sight and became increasingly distressed) is. This photo of him sunbathing in my garden, taken moments ago, perfectly illustrates that he's enjoying retirement enormously. ๐

A detour on the way to my desk ChartwellNT, via the wisteria. ๐

A tour this morning ChartwellNT for a wonderful group, which included none other than actor and comedian David Walliams. My job is, quite frankly, brilliant.

Peonies are my favourite flowers, and so I'm always especially happy when they come into bloom - Seen here in the walled garden ChartwellNT. ๐ฉท

I'll be speaking at the Marches of Time History Festival on Saturday 19 July at the magnificent Stokesay Court, set in the rolling hills of the Shropshire countryside. For tickets and further information: wegottickets.com/event/654909
