We are standing up for our sex - for our mothers, our daughters, our sisters, and our selves. Because women as a sex class do exist, and sex is observably, objectively real, and politically significant. Women are female and sex matters. That’s the thread in a nutshell. 15/

As healthcare workers involved in birthing women, we must remember that women’s memories of childbirth experience stay with them for a lifetime. Working towards #respectfulcare for all women, I support PUSH Campaign that is raising awareness for midwives.

Thought for the day…. After much discussion re front cover of the Lancet yesterday. I have also heard from some as to how feminism is about being inclusive so it should not matter that women we’re not mentioned. I agree feminism is about inclusion but here is my take.#ENOUGH

Dr. Kaveri Mayra Hannah Dahlen AM Elaine Burns Milli Hill Dr Jeni Stevens BirthSmallTalk Karleen Gribble Dr Shawn Walker @lornamidwife Dr Jen Hocking Dr Maeve O'Connell RM RGN ☘️💙 Prof Christine Catling The conundrum is that if you say women & people, it implies women are not people. However, if you say women & other people, then that works. My go to phrase is 'childbearing women & other birthing people' long, but inclusive. We cannot allow the erasure of the word 'woman'

Rosie Kay (@rosiekayk2co) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Because, as a woman, I do not believe it to be true. To erase the word ‘woman’ from language is to erase us as a sex class from our hard fought for political and social rights and denies the basis of our oppression. Our sex is not for you to colonise. Be gone.
