In June 2023, Mayor Cavalier Johnson set a goal to have 50 new miles of protected bikeways completed or in progress by 2026. This morning, at the Mayor's Bike Ride, he shared that we currently have 𝟰𝟭.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀 toward this goal! View the map for more details: arcgis.com/apps/dashboard…

What a great morning celebrating #WisconsinBikeWeek and taking a ride on some recently completed protected bikeways. Thanks to everyone that participated in the 2024 Mayor Cavalier Johnson Bike Ride!

Look at how much those curbs are moving in (red=old, green=new)! More space for people (walking, biking, and dining) coming to E. Wells Street. Great work by our team City of Milwaukee - DPW in partnership with WisDOT Southeast Region!

This project was a created in partnership with LUNA, LLC, City of Milwaukee - DPW, Near West Side & Sixteenth Street CHC made possible by a Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Initiative Grant. The mural shown was designed by MKE artist, Phoenix S. Brown. tmj4.com/news/milwaukee… Andrea Albers

We’re hiring for a Municipal Services Electrician, plus other great City of Milwaukee jobs available at milwaukee.gov/JOBS

DPW is committed to designing streets that are safe & enjoyable for all. Along with Mayor Cavalier Johnson today we held an event to highlight how our infrastructure designs have been successful in slowing down speeds all over the city. But this is only the beginning Milwaukee.

Let’s go y’all. A deserving corridor for this critical investment for so many reasons. Thanks to our Federal partners U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Admn Sen. Tammy Baldwin!

As we always say, this is only the beginning. More protected bike lanes and calmed streets coming to the City of Milwaukee.

The City of Milwaukee was awarded a $25 million federal grant to complete a transformation of Center St from Sherman to Teutonia. The new Center St will feature enhanced pedestrian crossings, protected bike lanes, transit boarding improvements, street trees & traffic calming.
