Brave new world

I don’t advise women because I believe African women get too much unsolicited (and often unhelpful) advice, while African men get too little. Nobody talks to the men about how to be good men, good sons, good husbands, good fathers, good brothers, good citizens. I try to do that.

Everywhere you turn, lawlessness just exists. It’s not even in the dramatic sense but in the quiet everyday kind that slowly kills a Nation. No traffic rules, you all drive like crazy people or like you have an appointment with death. No control whatsoever. Just stupid vibes.

It’s easy to attack women because its always been socially acceptable. If you insult a single mom, divorcée, “ashawo” etc you’ll always find an audience. Unrealized internalized misogyny makes even enlightened women speak far harsher to women more freely than they normally would.

Today, THE MEDIA REFORM COORDINATING GROUP (MRCG-SL) partnered with the Paradigm Initiative (PIN), to convene Digital Rights Academy for about 50 journalists. Today’s session introduced them to concept of digital rights; enhanced their understanding of digital security risks & their implications for press freedom; & among others.

It becomes even more concerning when you consider Nigeria has one of the highest infant mortality rate in the world. More than double that of Kenya and the global average. That means they would be more if they had better healthcare.
