Arnold D. This iconic book is a masterpiece in Science and Prose. ("they excrete the ashes of our body fires,"). But the countercurrent multiplying system of urinary concentration and dilution had not even been "discovered" when it was written 1953. Comparative physiology is fascinating.

Kidney community - huge news with the $800 million to $1.7 billion acquisition of a kidney drug in clinical trials. Let’s make this an everyday kind of thing. To everyone who has played a role in its development, thank you!

The collaborative spirit among ADPKD researchers and patients is the engine behind innovative therapies. Thank you, Roman-Ulrich Müller, for the kind words and the support! For me, it's meaningful validation of our work and the rewarding, if unpredictable, path of a physician-scientist.

U.S. Nephrology board exam is in 171 days. Mentors - do everything you can to ensure your mentee passes the test. Don’t let them stumble as they finally finish their formal medical training. We cannot have a medical specialty with the lowest passing rate in medicine.

Let’s not let the crisis at the NIH go to waste. Time to redouble our efforts. Imagine the future research funding if every single member of the US Congress experienced dialysis patients sharing the horrors kidney disease puts on people, families, and government finances.

Tolvaptan for PKD went generic. The insurance company is making me go generic, but I'll always appreciate OtsukaUS - you funded the drug trials, you stuck with it when times got tough, and you made sure I had access to the medication for almost 7 yrs. @ $10 month max. 🙏
