Monday was Eid. A staff member Lady Evelyn Alternative School OCDSB, on his religious holiday, took the time early in the morning to bring in delicious homemade platters of food for his colleagues to enjoy for lunch. That act of kindness set the tone for the week, and touched many hearts.

One of my most-used teacher moves is that when I notice a student not working on whatever we're doing, I'll just wait until I catch their eye and then just give them a thumbs up with a face that says, "You okay?" Often times the student nods and gets to it. Other times... 1/
