40 years ago today. July 3, 1985 Back to the Future was released in theaters. In the movie Marty goes back 30 years to the 1950s. We are a decade further away from 1985 than Marty was from the 50s. If the movie was set now Marty would go back to the '90s.

101 years ago July 4, 1924 Kingsport Ball-field Tony was Kingsport's 1st pro Wrestler. At times he was billed as from Kingsport others times from Bristol. He was the first man to lay claim as Southern Champ here and was a HUGE local sports star.

July 4, 1951 J Fred Johnson Stadium - 74 years ago today Eduardo Perez vs. Herb Welch and Don Martin vs. Johnny Marrs headlined Mickey Baarnes weekly Kingsport event. Johnny Marrs was a Kingsport Boy My 1950s book is coming along and I hope to finish it in August.
