Fantastic read on No Other Land by Mary — this is not to harp on this documentary, but consider the power dynamics & the specific reason why this documentary has gotten the praise that it has. This is a question of whose humanity is taken into consideration & to what end.

Just to recap: ICE arrests a student activist, then realizes he’s not on a visa but on a green card, takes him anyway saying his green card is being revoked, holds him incommunicado, then the Secretary of State announces that green card holders will be deported too.

Watching this is beyond chilling. Plain clothes officers, no warrant, no names, no alleged crimes. Just snatched from a residence hall while his wife looks on helplessly. All for the crime of criticizing a foreign govt bombing babies.
