For some stories, you need lots of patience. This is one! With MIREN we *finally* have the long-term data to show that - yes - non-native species are rather rapidly moving uphill along mountain roads! New paper out in NatureEcoEvo! 1/n the3dlab.org/2023/01/26/exo…

Day 5 of our @WoodlandTrust #SCATTER project and tree 13: Birnam Oak Another utterly windless day in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 perfect for scanning. Below vid is a 2 minute time lapse and the canopy is motionless. Locals say its not always like this 😂

📢I've published an article in The Conversation highlighting why we should be paying more attention to tiny #arctic-#alpine plants which are sounding a warning for #biodiversity loss due to #climatechange. Please RT to help combat #plantblindness! theconversation.com/tiny-but-tenac…

Had a fun day on Ben Lui sampling some high altitude soil for the James Hutton Institute #MunroSoils citizen science project. The project aims to collect DNA from soil across Scotland's alpine zone to understand biodiversity variability & provide a baseline to track future changes🧪⛰️

Moving to Spain after becoming quite cozy in Stirling has been challenging, but I'm really excited for this new adventure as a postdoc at CREAF working on plant traits and drought responses. The campus at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is also definitely giving me University of Stirling vibes

I know this is hard to swallow, but if there’s something about food and farming you passionately believe, it is almost certainly wrong. On these issues above all others, our gut instincts mislead us. They can take us, inadvertently, to a very dark place.🧵 monbiot.com/2023/10/04/the…

It's hard to miss these signs all over Barcelona right now. They're appropriately alarming but also allow us as individuals to feel empowered to make some changes. More of this sort of thing needed in the UK?
