In our latest paper in Environmental Health Perspectives we found that infrastructure improvements in Atlanta led to fewer overall combined sewer overflow events but those that did occur were associated with more ED visits for GI illness. Led by PhD student Alyssa Miller and co-authored with Stefanie Sarnat .

Words are important. "Adoption" puts the onus on the people designing an intervention to develop solutions that users will want and use. "Compliance" and "adherence" are paternalistic and should be retired from our lexicon.
