very nice little post on multiplexing in databases by @jaffray.bsky.social this week: buttondown.com/jaffray/archiv… i am working on batched evaluation of property paths in #SPARQL and this gives me a nice framework to explain the idea (probably a blog post forthcoming).

TFW you work on a feature X to replace a legacy feature Y, and you detect a bug in Y that's kinda hard to fix. You plug X instead and all works like a charm.

We are looking for someone who knows what they are doing around Databases and enjoys intellectual challenges to help coordinate / design / complete a proper subquery decorrelation framework in ApacheDataFusion . Please email / discord / slack me if that is you.

I must admit I don't always find invited talks by extremely senior academics useful (or even find them sad sometimes) but today's #SIGMOD talk by Margo Seltzer on ML & databases is so good. Some bits about broken experimentation practices are relevant beyond academia.
