Last night was a dream that I will forever be thankful to the The Pulitzer Prizes jurors to have helped me realize. This prize really belongs to many-all my community that has nurtured me-& dedicated to the many Black artists who continue to inspire me & change & save our world.

My last story for BuzzFeed News looks at the racist history of the law the Trump administration used to separate families at the border and how federal defenders are using it to fight illegal reentry charges for immigrants. buzzfeednews.com/article/adolfo…

And if you're a writer and are interested in working with Freedom Reads and giving a talk in a prison and love some literary journal that you're in - reach out to us, we'll get you into a prison, get that rag into the prison and we'll pay you. If you dope. freedomreads.org/freedom-talks

Required reading on 1326! Fantastic story from Adolfo Flores describing the amazing work of Kara Hartzler KellyLytleHernandez and many others to expose and eradicate the racism pervading the criminal immigration laws.

“The UC strike is therefore not just an effort to raise thousands of academic workers out of near poverty, but a movement whose success will require a reversal of the austerity that has subverted the higher education promise in California and elsewhere.” theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

The racist & xenophobic history of the #1326 law is well documented. Historians like KellyLytleHernandez have exposed this legacy. Created in 1929 by a white supremacist U.S. Senator, the law’s intent was to explicitly exclude Mexican migrants. buzzfeednews.com/article/adolfo…

The Smithsonian's list of "Ten Best History Books of 2022" by @MeilanSolly includes TWO authors from our 2022 Teach the Black Freedom Struggle online series: -- "Bad Mexicans" by KellyLytleHernandez -- "Half American" by Matt Delmont & more great authors. smithsonianmag.com/history/the-te…

Why yes, that is UCLA Dept.of History professor and MacArthur genius KellyLytleHernandez talking with incoming LA councilmembers Eunisses Hernandez and Hugo Soto-Martínez in the Fashion District. About what? Columna tomorrow!

While Kevin de León (again) took the city to a new low, Eunisses Hernandez Hugo Soto-Martínez and I walked in solidarity. We talked about the past, present, and future of radical latinx politics in LA. Thanks for the day, Col. Gustavo Arellano

Honored to speak at California Black Freedom Fund event tonight. Hard conversations about supporting Black power, denouncing anti-Black racism from any source, & insisting that “solidarity is what you do when no one is looking.” Plus, another opportunity to hang w incomparable Holly J. Mitchell

Congratulations to KellyLytleHernandez! BAD MEXICANS is one of the three winners of this year's prestigious Bancroft Prize. wwnorton.com/books/bad-mexi… nytimes.com/2023/03/08/art…
