It has been a superb week in #Assynt in the Northwest Highlands looking at some classic alkaline rocks and #Lewisian geology (and getting very wet feet). Thanks Owen Weller-Gibbs for organising!

🎉NEW EPISODE ALERT! The final episode of Every Rock Has A Story - Season Four - premieres tonight at 7:30 EST. See Dr Kathryn Goodenough take us to a real lithium deposit in Sweden. Thanks to United Lithium for letting us see these amazing rocks youtu.be/7xtNaS6x7BM

Lithium! Lithium ore!! Battery rock!!! Check out Ep. 82 of Every Rock Has A Story which is all about spodumene; this critical mineral is key for our green energy future. Great news that there is such a significant resource estimate for #rareearths in the Fen Complex. Of course this is not a 'discovery' - our Norges geologiske undersøkelse (NGU) colleagues have been studying it for years.

🌍🔍 New #EScubed article exploring how geospatial data & deep learning can detect ESG risks in critical raw materials supply, focusing on lithium. Congrats to the fantastic team, including our EiC Dr Kathryn Goodenough! 🌱 #GeospatialData #DeepLearning #ESG 👉 fro.ntiers.in/nuzR

Last week a British Geological Survey team had an excellent visit to Luanda, #Angola, arranged by UK in Angola. We met with a variety of stakeholders, focusing on issues around sustainability, resources and geohazards along the Lobito Corridor.

I'm in #Busan for #IGC2024, and we'll be showcasing all things Scottish for the IGC 2028 Glasgow bid. Plus I'll be giving a couple of talks on #lithium and representing British Geological Survey at various meetings. A busy week ahead!

#IGC2024 starts today! We hope everyone has a fab time. BGS' Dr Kathryn Goodenough will be present as part of the team promoting the #IGC2028Glasgow bid, as well as giving the talks 'Lithium pegmatites across Africa' & 'Geometallurgy for the Energy Transition'. igc2024korea.org
