In the Election Integrity committee, presenters criticized Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranking MI’s election processes at #2 in the U.S. claiming MIT had a “bias.” A quick search of these 2 men produced pics of one posing with Pres. Trump and the other wearing a MAGA hat. Tell me more about a “bias.”😒

Two years ago today, Michigan became the 26th hands-free state in an effort to end distracted driving. Since that day, data has come in, and we are already seeing a reduction in accidents, which means lives are being saved due to this legislation.

Today, along with other legislators, I had the opportunity to tour Rivian in Plymouth and take a test drive. These vehicles are super cool and it was awesome to try one out!

The Michigan House Republican education budget guts funding for school safety, universal meals, and transportation costs. This is a horrific deal for schools and I want to thank all of the parents and school staff who have already reached out to me to voice their opposition.

I’ve proven over my 3+ terms that I will vote for a good school aid bill regardless of what party sponsors it. This budget is not it. They say budgets mirror your values & priorities, this budget prioritizes smoke & mirrors & political games over student, safety, and achievement.

MI House Republicans have held us on the floor for 10 hours now trying to strong-arm representatives into voting for an extreme budget that guts higher education - 92% cuts to U-M, 72% to MSU & slashing every university in Michigan. As a teacher, l’d give this budget a big F.

My thoughts are with the families of Representative Melissa Hortman and Senator John Hoffman. This type of violence has no place in our society.

On June 19, 1865, Union General Gordon Granger proclaimed freedom for all enslaved individuals Galveston, Texas, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Today, we celebrate Juneteenth and remember those who never knew freedom.

This morning, along with State Representative Kelly Breen, I had the opportunity to tour Cooke School in Northville. The dedicated staff at Cooke does amazing work with students from ages 3-26 with special needs. Thank you for the tour and thank you for all you do!
