PolMeth in July was fantastic, but I’m still waiting for my $1,000 travel award in November. I am grateful for the award, and I was only able to attend counting on it. If grad students front the money, at least they shouldn't have to act as lenders to big institutions for months.

Days like today remind us why research on illiberal politics is essential. I feel motivated to push forward with my research agenda. Let's engage deeply with the comparative politics of illiberalism, democratic backsliding and authoritarianism, and learn from other countries.
