#OTD in 1943 Polish II Corps was formed. It was commanded by Lt Gen Władysław Anders and fought with great distinction in the Italian campaign. It comprised of the 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division, 5th Kresowa Infantry Division and 2nd Warsaw Armoured Brigade (later division).
