Flappy, flouncy, fabulous fish fins- alliterations and kinematic analyses were on point in Dr. Kayla C. Hallβs #SICB2023 talk. She quantified the movements of chimaera pectoral and pelvic fins in both fast and slow moving water.
Allyson Evans delivers an absolutely jaw dropping talk on the novel jaw protrusion mechanism of the hingemouth fish. The room was on the edge of their seats #SICB2023
Starting #MidwestSICB The University of Chicago off with a bang! Thanks to Neil Shubin for a fantastic opening talk and to everyone who came for braving the thunderstorm! I canβt wait for tomorrow!
WooHoo! Congratulations to β¦Chloe Nash, PhDβ©, β¦Dr. Samantha Gartnerβ© and β¦Katie Whitlow, PhDβ© on your PhDs! I hooded three, a new record, my arms are tiredβ¦
Excited to talk about what I've been up to the past year and a half with Katie Whitlow, PhD at my first SICB presentation Wednesday Jan 3! Pop in to the fish feeding session at 2pm in room 602 to learn about how fish are able to consume prey whole π #SICB2024
Check out two exciting talks from the Whitlow lab coming this afternoon at #sicb2024 - prey processing in bowfin by Emily Volpe and temperature effects on strike success and kinematics in smallmouth bass by Grace Johnston - see you at 1:45p and 2p in room 602 π #teamfish
Come check out Molly's escape response work at poster #18 starting at 3:30! And come chat about tradeoffs with feeding plus where I want to take this work in the future on the other side of the room at poster 217 SICB DCB-DVM #SICB2024
Any SICB-goers looking for a talk to pep you up before lunch? Come hear about how bowfin spin their prey right 'round (like a record baby) to reposition feeder fish for a headfirst swallow! In salon 4 at 11:30am - hope to see you there! #teamfish #SICB2025 SICB DCB-DVM
