Today’s story comes from a person incarcerated at Deuel Vocational Institution. They talked about how incarcerated individuals were prevented from seeing their families. Unlike those outside, there were no access to alternative methods like Zoom to see and hear their loved ones

Thank you so much to The Digital Library Federation for including Alexis @policyaspenal and I from UCI PrisonPandemic in the DHC closing plenary. We absolutely loved being a part of such a rich discussion on preserving and digitizing the voices of vulnerable populations.

I am recruiting Asian American first-generation college students and their siblings in Southern California to learn more about family relationships and educational trajectories. I would really appreciate it if you could retweet/share my flyer! #Dissertation #SocAF

There was a murder-suicide on campus yesterday and the UCI Counseling Center is having a staff retreat today. I called to get some resources and learned no one is available to meet with students or staff (but they’ll be back in the office tomorrow!). Do better, UC Irvine.

I received a call from the director of the Counseling Center, who tells me they are now open and available for support. That’s better! 💜
