This gastroesophageal junctional tumor is a nasty one. The "bitten bagel" cell (arrow) and macronucleoli are clues to add the staining. Neil AJ, et al. SMARCA4 Mutations in Carcinomas of the Esophagus, Esophagogastric Junction, and Stomach. Mod Pathol. 2023 Jun;36(6):100183.

Not all squamous metaplasia is equal. When found in the bladder, always note whether keratinization is present—non-keratinizing form is more often benign, while keratinizing form raises concern for dysplasia/carcinoma and requires careful follow up. #GUPath #PathTwitter #MedEd
