Tuesday! Doc Films hosts the first of three screenings in Chicago with scholar/curator Erika Balsom. Featuring rarely-screened works of feminist video!

Yesterday 7 of the 30+ employees were laid off at the Academy Film Archive without notice. This included the Director & Head of Preservation who was one of the best managers I ever had. This feels like a death knell for the 3rd largest film archive in North America. (1/3)

I’m so excited to have just come across this 100 year-old snapshot in a trade magazine showing my dream cinema, the glorious Tuschinski Amsterdam. Still exhibiting today & I have drunk in the detail & watched films there, but back in October 1924 premiering the latest Pola Negri.
