In his report, Chair Ice congratulates all of the students graduating from Kansas colleges and universities this month.

In her last report as Chair of the Students' Advisory Committee, Pittsburg State University Student Body President Hannah Eckstein recognizes all of the student body presidents and thanks them for their work on the committee this year.

Following the standing committee reports, the Board approves the consent agenda for May.

The Board is receiving the Fiscal Year 2026 tuition and fee proposals from the state universities. The complete proposals are available at kansasregents.gov/about/regent_m….

The Regents are only conducting a first read of the tuition and fee proposals this month. They plan to conduct a second read and take action on the proposals during the June Board meeting.

The Board approves the state universities' FY 2027 capital improvement requests and five year plans. The Regents conducted a first read of the requests during last month's meeting.

The Regents approve a request from Pittsburg State University to name the university's sustainability center in honor of Dr. James R. Triplett.

The Regents vote to name Regent Blake Benson as Chair for Fiscal Year 2026.

The Regents vote to name Regent Diana Mendoza as Vice Chair for Fiscal Year 2026.

As this is Pittsburg State President Dan Shipp's final month in office, the Board votes to give incoming Chair Benson authority to appoint an interim president when President Shipp departs. The Board is currently conducting a search for the next president of Pitt State.

In his report, Chair Ice notes that Board leadership met with leadership from the Kansas State Board of Education this week and thanks them for their partnership.

President Flanders tells the Board in his report that he recently met with the Kansas Hospital Association to discuss their workforce needs. He says that the state's higher education system is committed to working with them to build their talent pipeline.
