New study with Kjerstin Thorson about how US newsworkers describe their organization’s target audience. We propose a continuum–from minimal to sophisticated– of audience images, and look at the (lack of) diversity in target audience descriptions journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/14…

In a new study in Journalism Studies I look at the different experiences of news avoidance among frequent and infrequent consumers of news. The study is based on 45 qualitative interviews. tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10… A couple notable findings /arguments:
