A Rail journey of 211 kms in Bihar has taken 8 hours and counting... It takes effort to be this inefficient! A complete absence of consumer protection for all things sarkari, is of course a given. Thank you, Ministry of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw East Central Railway Train number: 13228

One of the things I greatly appreciated about JD Vance in the final hours of the campaign was his insistence that politics is not more important than family. Don’t give up on your family because you disagree with who they voted for. You don’t often hear candidates say this,

It will be interesting to see how Musk and Ramaswamy go about cutting US government waste. Hopefully there will be learnings for other governments around the world. Maybe their work will inspire India to have its own DOGE someday soon.

If you are part of the unlucky millions stuck with only the government-provided education, health, transport (railways), etc. - Good luck!! "The political market unlike economic markets, suffers from total absence of consumer protection." - Alan Reynolds, National Review

As Groucho said, "Politics is the art of looking for trouble, finding it everywhere, diagnosing it incorrectly, and applying the wrong remedies." Of course, the politics quote repurposed for the government can't be as charitable.

Will be good to know what manufacturer (assuming it's one of the 'infant industry') benefits in the domestic market from all this protection? We know that all the domestic consumers foot the bill (high prices, low quality)! And all the jobs lost!! But fayada kiska?! Kab tak!?

Many thanks for your kind invite, Gopal Krishna Agarwal ji. Appreciate your efforts towards dialogue and consensus building. As you wrote in ThePrintIndia: "India has to grow its GDP at over 8 per cent per annum on a sustained basis... We mustn’t squander this opportunity." Indeed!

In India, government jobs pay far more than equivalent jobs in the private sector–so much so that the entire labor market and educational system have become grossly distorted by rent seeking to obtain these jobs. marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolu…
