Department of Health and Social Care Cllr Judith Garfield MBE FRSA🟣 Guidance on what 'new' means and what 'continuous'means in this context is urgently required. I'm medically trained & do not know myself. Does new mean within the last 7 days? Does continuous mean twice a day or 100 times a day? What about coughs from other causes? #Coronavirus

Our review on the core steps to the azaphilone family of fungal natural products has just been published in ChemBioChem. We use the fantastic bioinformatic tools developed by @clmgilchrist to identify potential unexplored genetic and chemical space: dx.doi.org/10.1002/cbic.2…

Our 'in silico analysis of maleidride biosynthetic gene clusters' has just been published in Fungal Bio & Biotech: rdcu.be/cHfqV. Thanks again to @clmgilchrist for the amazing bioinformatic tools that we use in our analyses.

Happy to share a(nother) review on fungal biosynthesis, this time on subcellular compartmentalization of specialized metabolites: fungalbiolbiotech.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11… Big thanks to Katherine Williams and Kate de Mattos-Shipley for the invitation (and their patience!). #fungi #biosynthesis #naturalproducts

Our review on the biosynthesis of fungal maleidrides is out now in Nat. Prod. Reports. Read it for a comprehensive overview of the chemical, in vivo, in vitro and in silico analyses conducted on these compounds and their biosynthetic pathways. pubs.rsc.org/en/content/art…

BREAKING: 850+ Academics & Notables Call For Plant-Based Universities An open letter signed by the likes of Chris Packham has just been released. The letter is calling on universities to transition to 100% plant-based catering in order to tackle the climate and nature crises.

Cassava brown streak: A deadly virus on the move - Plant Pathology - Wiley Online Library bsppjournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/pp… So proud of Fran and Diane from the Bristol team for pulling this together. A huge effort and a great read. Oh and that bloke Eric helped a lot 🙃 British Society for Plant Pathology

I'm excited to say that I've started a new post as a Senior Lecturer at UWE! UWE Bristol I will be teaching across a range of topics, focusing on microbiology, and will continue my research with fungi.

🚨Programme for #CBNP17 is now live 🚨 Check out our speaker line-up: tinyurl.com/3hjpk8xf Keynote lectures from Lauren Murray and Katherine Williams. General registration open until 9th June. Huge thanks to our sponsors: UK Research and Innovation @RSC_CBBG Nat. Prod. Reports AltaBioscience

Check out the programme of the upcoming #CBNP17! shorturl.at/dHBhh ... and there is still time to register until Sunday the 9th of June: shorturl.at/8AzLz Looking forward to two days of Natural Product research at University of Warwick with talks and posters from ECRs.

Check out our latest work, just posted on bioRxiv Microbiology. We studied the early steps of the biosynthesis of the anticancer antibiotic pleurotin using a combination of stable isotope feeding, genome sequencing, transcriptomics and heterologous gene expression. 🍄🧬💊
