Disappointing results. Great reminder to ED/surgical/inpatient colleagues to check PDMP on admitted patients, order their bupe if they’ve been taking it outpatient, & trx pain w/ opioids on top of bupe. This med gives pts w/ OUD a 40% mortality reduction! Boston Med Center EM BMC Surgery
Great practical tip from aL'Ai alvarez, MD at Boston Med Center EM Grand Rounds on self-compassion: after a tough case before turning to the next task, find a pt who has been in the ED for some time & offer her a sandwich. You will make her feel better & she will thank you & you will feel better.
