Congrats to Dr. Chamessian (Alex Chamessian) on receiving the ASRA Pain Medicine 2025 Chronic Pain Grant for his research using PROTACs to eliminate pain-signaling proteins NaV1.7 and NaV1.8—offering hope for non-addictive, long-lasting relief from chronic pain.

Check out our new paper - cover story on Nature Neuroscience - outlining a potential new target for pain treatment and which may explain the susceptibility of older adults to chronic pain

Huge thanks to ASRA Pain Medicine for this honor. The generous funds from this award will enable my lab to continue our pioneering work to develop #PROTACs as analgesics. And so, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to lead this in vivo TPD work and also help drive a new

My oncologist tried to stop my chemotherapy* treatment last week because of a one-page synopsis he had read regarding my recent MRI, which mentioned that one of my brain tumors had progressed. It turns out he had never actually looked at the MRI itself; and the specialist who

Universities ranked by research output...look closely. Now that Harvard University has been kneecapped, there will be no U.S. university left in the top ten. Hats off to China. nature.com/nature-index/i…

Powerful piece on the dominance of NIH-funded science and its role in drug discovery. Cutting the NIH budget puts all the U.S. has built at risk. We urge Robert F.
