One of the first tips I'll be covering in my #Radiopaedia2021 talk on how to make your own medical illustrations is using layers in ppt. Never again move things backward or forward, just use the poorly named and hidden layer menu: "selection pane". (1/2) Radiopaedia.org

Editorial #medicalillustration of a chocolate heart, a very fun (and hunger-inducing) texture to research & paint. I made a 'complete', then a 'bitten' version, but couldn't decide which I preferred. I ended up animating the two together into this loop... #cardiac #anatomyArt

There is still a persistent myth out there that you can achieve photo realism in art without the use of photo reference. If your goal is realism, here's a thread to remind you that the best artists used reference so you can, too.

A drawing I did in 2021 about ascites. Admittedly, the liver in here may appear healthier than is typically associated with ascites, as liver disease is the most common cause but I chose not to depict a cirrhotic liver to maintain the ā€œartistic visionā€. #medicalart

I remade the earlier drawing of cardiomegaly, taking inspiration from Sir John Tenniel's famous 19th-century illustrations for Alice in Wonderland. šŸ‡āœØ Check out his illustrations – you'll enjoy them! šŸ“ššŸŽ©šŸŽØ #AliceInWonderland #SirJohnTenniel #Cardiomegaly #MedicalIllustration

Illustrating a thunderclap headache from a ruptured aneurysm. It's sudden and severe, often described as the worst. Various underlying conditions, like subarachnoid hemorrhage, can lead to these severe headaches. #ThunderclapHeadache #AneurysmRupture

I created this 'musicophilia' illustration šŸŽµ Individuals diagnosed report a sudden craving for music, sometimes at the expense of daily life. In rare cases, it may signal brain diseases like stroke or head trauma. 🧠 #Musicophilia #NeuroArt #MusicCraving
