Ordination is not an elevation but a condescension. One is ordained not to rule but to serve. Ordination is the (often painful, often joyful) journey of learning to give one’s life away. The “higher” one goes the deeper the call to service.

I give thanks to God for yesterday’s historic prayer vigil with Pope Leo XIV, Ecumenical Patriarch, church leaders and young people from around the world. In a world of conflict, the Holy Spirit calls us to walk together - lighting the way as visible signs of reconciliation and unity.
