Kirstie Allsopp Chris You can parent in the way that's best for your family and leave others to do whats best for them. You wouldn't know if the kid has meltdowns or has a routine that follows. Even if the parents just wanted 20 minutes to eat in peace, it's nothing to do with you.

Phillipson & Reeves need to end up in court over this. The deliberate targeting of a group of citizens (the thousands of private school parents who simply aren’t wealthy) causing them financial loss - and for no public good whatsoever.

Peter McCormack 🏴‍☠️🇬🇧🇮🇪 As ridiculous as his suggestion is, I'm grateful to Kinnock for making it because it emphasises the injustice of Labour's decision to tax school fees. We all contribute to both the NHS and state schooling. We should not be taxed again for not using those services.

Sam Freedman Thoroughly enjoyed reading your analysis, Sam. Always great to hear from ex private school boys happily enjoying the fruits of their education and deciding to kick the ladder away for others. Note that you will join ex private school boys Starmer & Corbyn. Couple of points 🧵

Paul Johnson Sam Freedman Institute for Fiscal Studies For those interested in a deep dive of Sam’s analysis, I have done the hard work so you don’t have to. All comments backed up with the data from the government to ensure recollections don’t vary as time goes on.

Oliver Kamm Meanwhile the parents of tens of thousands of SEND children are financially in pieces trying to not bring further stress to their children’s wellbeing. UK is an international pariah as the only country to tax education.

Paul Johnson Sam Freedman Institute for Fiscal Studies The former lead of the IFS welcomes an 'analysis' whose foundation - the author acknowledges - is misleading. Wow. Freedman writes his analysis is based upon a year's worth of data. Minutes later he confirms the data actually only captures a few weeks post-implementation... 🤦‍♂️

So @samfr has now acknowledged the data used for his hatchet job is actually from January, when the policy had been in effect for just a matter of days, but states this is enough to give a good sense of the impact... "A good sense"? From the figures of those who decided not to

katie leeming This one quote alone shows the woman has NO concept whatsoever of the varying needs of children in the system she’s responsible for. How hurtful for SEND families struggling with attendance to read this. Bridget Phillipson is not fit for her role. SEND Action Special Needs Jungle

Paul Johnson there's so much I could write about your horrible post piling on independent school kids along with Sam Freedman. I've chosen a couple of highlights and welcome your response. (won't get one from Freedman, he blocks anyone that disagrees) x.com/PJTheEconomist…

Bridget Phillipson @bphilipsonMP is back with another episode of “Things That Never Happened” 🥴 Let’s break down the Labour lies and delusions, shall we? •📉 “Fixed attendance” – Yeah, by lowering expectations and rebranding truancy as “flexible learning.” •👩‍🏫 6,500 new teachers? Still missing.

Hi @SamFr. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the points below by Isabel Paterson . It could explain the reaction you've gotten to your post on school fee VAT.

Joe Nutt (@joenutt_author) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is why I said earlier today, that every magazine and newspaper should be demanding to know what kind of woman would inflict this on a child? Multiply by thousands - then ask yourself the same question.

It took the last benighted Tory government 14 years to slump to a net approval rating of minus 56, which it richly deserved. But Starmer/Labour have managed to plummet to the same depths in 14 months. A breath-taking achievement. Congratulations.
