I beg of the blue ticks still in my mentions to understand 1 in 4 people having a disability is *not* the same thing as 1 in 4 people being on disability benefits. This is not hard, lads! Watch literally anything other than GB News! Google for 45 seconds!

We seem to be entering a dark period. Disabled people always faced prejudice, but it's so dangerous when public figures fuel it, amp up suspicion & the idea disabled people are either faking or burdens. Compassion & justice are our core values, we need to stay true to them. 1/2

Hina Bokhari OBE AM 🔶 Glad to meet with you to discuss #PEEPs (personal emergency evacuation plans), the government's new proposal gives us no protection in an emergency. We fear a repeat of Grenfell, without mandatory plans 2 get everyone out safely, including Disabled people x.com/AdamGabsiLDN/s…

Rents in the private sector are much too high, with the average renter spending a third of their pay cheque on rent. This often means people being left without enough money to afford other essentials, or having to accept poor and dangerous living conditions. 1/4

Rent controls offer an immediate solution to the issue of spiraling rents. If implemented properly they could protect renters beyond the measures in the Renters Reform Bill. Here the alliance sets out five reasons why we should have rent controls. 3/4 homesforus.org.uk/latest-news/5-…

As an alliance, we're currently campaigning for mayors to be given powers over rent controls in the upcoming English Devolution Bill. Find out more about the campaign - and how you can support by writing to your mayor - here. 4/4 homesforus.org.uk/campaigns/writ…

Disabled people have fought for years for real Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs), the kind recommended after #Grenfell. These new rules are not PEEPs. They are a betrayal of the lessons from Grenfell. They will cost lives. buff.ly/zmkc5iJ

Eight years on from #Grenfell, Disabled people's lives are still being put at risk by inadequate fire safety regulations. Read the full story and our comment 👇

Co-Chair of Inclusion London, Adam Gabsi ♿️ said: “These are not PEEPs. They are tick-box exercises that shift responsibility away from those in power.” “This is not what the #Grenfell Inquiry called for, and not what we campaigned for.” buff.ly/blSkUJs

As welcome as the Renters' Rights Bill is, there's still a piece missing - no renter will have genuine security in their homes until action is taken to regulate rent increases. RRC press officer Paul Shanks writes in the Big Issue 📰 bigissue.com/opinion/renter…

This is strong leadership. Thank you Sadiq Khan for standing up for humanity and speaking truth to power. The world cannot stay silent while Palestinians are starved, bombed, and erased. The UK must recognise Palestinian statehood. #CeasefireNow

If the price of everyday items had grown as fast as rents since 1988, a supermarket chicken would now set you back £53.76. The bill won't address this affordability crisis - we need further action. RRC campaigner Rosie Dutch explained on @ChrisGolds LBC News earlier this week.

This makes me so angry: I requested accessible versions of the so-called "Inclusive" Talent Strategy consultation a month before it closed. Got nothing. City Hall's response? We'll provide them from 1st Aug - two weeks AFTER the main consultation ended. How is that inclusion?? 🧵

Adam Gabsi ♿️ (@adamgabsildn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The lack of inclusion is unacceptable. Alternative formats must be available from day one of every consultation. That’s the bare minimum for a truly inclusive London. I agree with Hina’s demands. Inclusion is a right, not a favour. Sadiq Khan Inclusion London

For real inclusion, accessible versions of consultation documents need to be released from the start so Disabled people can take part at the same time as everyone else. This isn't good enough. #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs
