You know why we shouldn’t bet on corporations to solve our paid leave (or child care) problems? This ⬇️ is why. We need ACTUAL LAWS that provide ACTUAL SUPPORTS to families. #passpaidleave #childcarenow nytimes.com/2023/02/09/bus…

“‘It’s the new child labor. You’re taking children from another country and putting them in almost indentured servitude.’” 😔 nytimes.com/2023/02/25/us/…

Commonwealth Cares for Children grants have been a lifeline for providers like The Community Group, especially through the pandemic.     Last week, I signed a bill to continue C3 grants through the end of this fiscal year, and we want to keep it going through the next with our budget.

For anyone wondering why we all should be fighting for every child to have the right to an early education beginning at birth, check out Dan Wuori’s feed. (Also it will bring you joy ☀️ )

"While child care issues financially affect women in particular in both the short term and long term — including in a loss in wages and retirement savings — the economy also takes a hit." cnbc.com/2023/09/12/mor…

Multiple cities and towns in Maine in shelter-in-place lockdowns. Remind me again how it is that unfettered access to murder machines makes us “free?”. My heart breaks for those impacted.

Great piece. Notably, c4 $ are largely missing from the care movement - making us easy to ignore. Electeds don’t suffer consequences for kicking the can (ie, lose their jobs). Perhaps an uncomfortable truth: we won’t win until donors help us get in the political/electoral game.
