And this arrived today! The updated Mathematics First Peoples resource guide for elementary and secondary teachers. Full PDF download available here: fnesc.ca/math-first-peo… With gratitude to First Nations Education Steering Committee #bcedchat #sd38learn

I’ve said this before but the primary thing in my opinion that people misunderstand about nonviolent movements of the past is that they were only successful because of their ability to cause economic disruption. You can’t have a social justice movement that protects capitalism.

Some of us think teaching math through an anti-racist/pro-justice lens means layering content with projects when it’s *also* in our day-to-day interactions with students and how we dismantle terms like “math people” and the prevalence of Greco-Roman centering of our math systems.

Powerful, deeply reflexive capstone presentations from WKTEP teacher candidates today! The pedagogical stances of these folks reverberated right to my core. #equity #inclusion #reflexivity Lauren @smaloff Heather Shippit Susanne Maguire @TimHutts UBC Teacher Education Kristi Crowe
