Coaches may tend to be tough on performance while being tolerant on mindset. Reverse it! Be tough on mindset, tolerant on performance By doing so you give your players a better chance to actually have that great performance. You free them up. You help them play on the front foot

The culture you create should reflect the values you want to live. If your culture reflects what you think is โ€œright,โ€ and not who you are, youโ€™re more likely to undermine yourself with misaligned behaviors. If it reflects what you value, the aligned behavior is effortless.

Sport is about perspective. Sometimes incredible effort doesn't pay off. Sometimes you still lose despite thorough preparation...despite the hard yards At these times you just have to look back with satisfaction and extract the joy from having been immersed in what you love most

Iโ€™m struggling to find the words to put with this post but please watch my most recent interview with Dele. Itโ€™s the most emotional, difficult yet inspirational conversation Iโ€™ve ever had in my life. Watch the interview on @wearetheoverlap here youtu.be/LyDL9EUIdy0

This Dele & Gary Neville interview has once again highlighted that fans dont know the full story and should remember that players might be going through stuff none of us know about or could even imagine. Hopefully him opening up can help people learn to listen before judging

Unfortunately none of this surprises me. It astounds that anyone still thinks itโ€™s acceptable to weigh swimmers. Amanda Beardโ€™s autobiography provides a heart breaking narrative on the impact of a focus on weight. Why arenโ€™t we learning these lessons? bbc.com/news/uk-englanโ€ฆ

In sport your thoughts HAPPEN to you...you DO your self-talk. By differentiating between thoughts and self-talk you may be able to learn to self-regulate quicker and more effectively: "I know I'll have unhelpful thoughts. I'll use my self-talk to ignore them and stay on-task"

Steve Magness (@stevemagness) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Don't fight negative thoughts. They are normal. It's part of your brain being protecting, nudging you to remind you that you are doing something difficult When we fight things, we assign them value For negative thoughts: let them float on by, acknowledge them, or replace them.

So what might Pierre be doing? Using (mental) rehearsal to build complex & nuanced schemas (representations of information) in long term memory He is retrieving memories of the circuitโ€ฆto (mentally) rehearse drivingโ€ฆto consolidate (declarative & procedural) knowledge

Incredibly refreshing to hear such perspective in the midst of performance disappointment! It is possible to express gratitude whilst wanting more. Attitude is a choice ๐Ÿง

Impressive reflection from Jack Draper on his first grand slam semifinal ๐Ÿ‘ Emotions of anxiety/nervousness. Feeling sick and like he canโ€™t move. All normal experiences which we cannot necessarily get rid off ๐Ÿง  But we can learn to perform with these experiences present #ACT
