A HUGE congratulations to Sheilla Njoto (who is not on Twitter) on her recently accepted article on gender bias in hiring algorithms. The main finding - hiring algorithms are biased against women (obvs) and men who take caregiving gaps. Such a powerful article!! Congrats!!

Happy father's day to all the men out there!! My most recent podcast talks all about how fatherhood has shifted over time. Are men spending more time with children? Is being a father good for your personal development? And, does fatherhood bring good health outcomes?

I feel like this photo captures my conference vibe Thanks to WFRN for inviting me to be a part of their Big Ideas Talk on whether technology can help close gender gaps? Yes but only if we make sizable and sustained investments in women building solutions.

Great talk by Yang Hu (the other place: @yanghu.co.uk) on work, family, care and AI. The takeaway - let's use AI to build the care world we want not the ones we already have. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

.Prof. Leah Ruppanner and Brendan Churchill show how remote working helped reduce burnout for workers but not for mothers. Most likely because home working mothers do both more paid and unpaid work! Thank you both for using #FlexibilityParadox theory! ;) #genderedparadox WFRN

When the wonderful @JenLHook flies all around the world to give you your 2022 IPUMS research award... And then you decide maybe you do need a celebratory ice cream?

Prof. Leah Ruppanner presented the results from her qualitative work on mental labor. There is not only a mental load related to housework and childcare; it is also about relationships, meta-care, and life organization.

Here is an article we wrote - JD Vance got "single cat women" all wrong. Our research shows they see the world differently, and are more connected to other women. All this means they wouldn't vote for him anyway. theconversation.com/jd-vance-got-s…

@Leahruppanner and colleagues on some fascinating research about those "single cat ladies" (spoiler: they weren't going to vote Republican anyway): @unimelb theconversation.com/jd-vance-got-s…

Single women are less likely to be conservative and vote for Trump/Vance. Not because they are miserable, but bc they have a sense of 'gender-linked fate', that what happens to women in society generally will personally affect them. Prof. Leah Ruppanner theconversation.com/jd-vance-got-s…
